The main factor of concern of the ecologists is the ongoing deforestation which might make life extinct from the earth. The American forests are being cut down at a very high rate and hence the forests are decreasing day- by-day. The people are cutting the forests so fast that the growth of the forest has almost come to a halt which makes the life in a dangerous situation. As a result the food products are also decreasing and a time might come when the people would starve for the food products. Due to the deforestation there has been a great loss of the flora and fauna. Almost half the species of the flora and fauna has been extinct from the earth and some are in the way to extinction. The deforestation in the Northern America is increasing at a very high rate .The forest that cut down for the industrial purposes are converted to toxic wastes. There are many reasons for the deforestation such as social cause, economic cause and political cause.

Social cause The lack of awareness amongst the people is one of the main reasons of deforestation. The people are not aware of the fact that life might extinct from earth if the forests are cut at this rate as they are the main source of oxygen. It is disbelieved by the people that technology would save us even though there are no trees around us.

Political cause The deforestation takes place at a much higher rate because there is no strict rule of the government for the people who destroy the forests. As a result the whole of the mankind comes in danger of their lives. Moreover the government also causes the deforestation by wars, bombing etc. The wars not only destroy the forests but also diminish the economy of a country. It is because the amount of money spend in the war could be spent in the developing the country’s infrastructure and making life easier for the citizens of the country. If the population of a country is not very high and if the people live below the poverty line then the forests are the perfect place for them. It is because it is bestowed with lots of useful ingredients which they can sell and earn their living.

Economic cause The need for increase in economy is also one of the main causes of deforestation. Not only the businessmen try to extract more profit but also the government is always looking for the raise in the economy of the country by constructing skyscrapers and roads. Many companies work on the mines, timber harvesting, some companies work on the production of certain products which are extracted from the trees like paper, rubber etc.

The cutting down of the forests have endangered life on earth. Moreover the temperature of the earth is also increasing which is affecting the live of the flora and fauna. There is a great danger that the ice might melt and the water level might rise and create havoc.
